Sickle cell disease was the first genetic disease in humans for which the molecular cause was known. Recently, it became the first genetic disease for which a CRISPR (Nobel prize-winning technology) product has been approved for treatment with curative intent. SCD is severely underfunded, therefore, The Prince Hall Family, with other community partners, will collectively step up and advocate against the many disparities concerning funding, care and research for SCD. 

We envision a future where children and their families, who suffer from the many complications of SCD individually and collectively, have a safe harbour until this debilitating disease is conquered. The Sickle Cell Disease clinic is the largest pediatric clinic in Canada and sees over 1000 patients a year. Together with The Hospital for Sick Children we hope to support health equity and remove disparities.
