I'm Fundraising in Support of SickKids!

When my little brother was much more little than he is now, I used to tuck him into bed. On several occasions, he would curiously ask me about death - as young kids tend to do. I always told him, "Don't you worry, you're going to live a very long time. You are going to live to be 100 years old. I promise." At first I thought this was a comforting enough answer, but it made him frown. He would ask me to make another promise too. I learned to say instead: "Don't you worry, you're going to live a very long time. You are going to live to be 100 years old. And I am going to live to be 107 years old. I promise." You see, I had to make sure to promise we would live to the same date, ensuring to accommodate for our almost 7 year age gap. Even as a toddler, Liam expressed strongly how he did not want to live without me. I have always felt the same. And that just about sums up our love for each other.

It is difficult for me to wrap my brain around the 20 minutes or so that I existed on this earth while my little brother Liam had no vital signs. It seems an impossibility. And in many ways, it is.

It is with much joy and relief in my heart that I say that Liam has made a miracle recovery after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest on April 30th, 2026. Between three hospitals, over two weeks, and one life changing surgery, he is still with us against all odds.

SickKids Hospital played a major role in this story. It is where Liam was helicoptered to for further testing, treatment and surgery after he was stabilized elsewhere. Their cardiac unit became our family's home base for many days during an extremely difficult time.

Fundraising for SickKids feels like a tiny way for me to express my gratitude, and to pay it forward for those children and families who may one day find themselves in need of healing there as well.

In February of 2027 I will be running in the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This is three consecutive days consisting of a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon run. I have never run before, and hated it in school. Honestly if you know me at all, this probably seems quite comedic to you. But I will be spending the next 8 months training to try and cross those finish lines early next year.

I am not a runner. But I am a big sister, with a fundraising cause that has me determined to lace up some sneakers and hit the pavement.

Any donation at all is deeply appreciated. This page will stay live until race weekend in February.

This is my way of saying thank you. To the place that helped Liam heal. To the people who saved him. And to the universe for making sure I didn't break that old promise.
