In Memory of Lochlan O’Leary
It is with incredible sadness that we share the passing of Lochlan “Lochy” Patrick O’Leary, who left us on September 3, 2025, at home in Toronto, surrounded by his family. He was just 11 years old.
Lochlan was born and raised in Toronto, ON, a city which he loved to explore and cheer on his favorite sports teams. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Anselm Catholic Schools, where he found so many wonderful friends and mentors during his short life. Lochlan was a talented athlete and a dangerous Fortnite sniper. He was a foodie and enjoyed wandering around cities finding new restaurants to enjoy. His personal favorite was the LOCAL in Leaside, where he achieved celebrity status. He also loved Karaoke and the shoeless / shirtless cottage life.
Every moment of Lochlan’s life was rooted in family, it was the essence of his being. He loved family holidays, in particular to Barbados, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Florida, and the unforgettable houseboat holiday in the Thousand Islands. Regardless of where his adventures took him, his happiest moments were simply spent with his family. Lochy’s presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire joy and kindness in the hearts of his family and friends.
Lochy was the beloved son of Rory and Jennifer O’Leary, cherished brother of Avery and the trusty sidekick to his dog Lennon. He was the adored grandson of Papa Brendan and Margaret, Nana Pam, Papa Glen and Jean (GiGi), and Grandma Kim and Howard. He will be forever missed by his many cousins Aidan, Liam, Ruby, Marigold, Eamon, Sammy, Declan, Jack, Kingston, and Macklin.
The individuals, programs and institutions that supported the O’Leary family over the last 20 months are too numerous to list, but we would like to acknowledge the caring and talented staff at Toronto’s SickKids Hospital, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Easter Seals Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the Sick Kids Foundation to help support causes near and dear to their heart – The Hopyan Lab, founded by Dr. Sevan Hopyan at the Hospital for Sick Children and the Eric Lindros Hockey Classic in support of Easter Seals Ontario.
