40 Wishes, 130 Days: Paying It Forward to SickKids

I'm Fundraising in Support of SickKids!

This November, I’m celebrating a milestone birthday, and I truly believe there is no better way to celebrate than by giving back.

Many of you know that our son, Maazin, spent over 130 days at SickKids right from birth. Hooked up to wires and breathing support from day one, he fought through three major surgeries before we were finally able to bring him home.

Like so many parents in our position, we missed out on common milestones: no traditional homecoming, no baby shower, no fun work baby celebration with my team and no big first birthday party. We spent his first year living in constant fear of a setback- limiting visitors, postponing trips, and holding our breath. 

Just last September, that fear resurfaced when Maazin needed emergency surgery and spent another week back at SickKids.

Today, we have officially reached one full year without a hospital visit or complication. We feel like we can finally breathe. This past summer was filled with everything we once dreamed of: family, friends, splash pads, coffee runs, and exploring every local park with our boy.

Looking back across 39 birthday wishes, I would trade every single one of them for a healthy son. 

We are endlessly grateful for where we are today, and we will forever honor the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at SickKids who made this possible. 

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating my 40th year by helping me reach my fundraising goal. Every donation, big or small, helps give another family the greatest gift of all: bringing their child home healthy.
