RESPECT THE ROAD: MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS & MEMORIAL EVENT
OUR STORY
Out of the worst day of our lives came a promise to create something that could make a difference.
On July 27, 2024, our family's lives changed. Billy Heeney, lost his life in a preventable motorcycle collision caused by careless driving. A husband, dad, grandfather, uncle, brother gone forever.
As our family struggled to navigate the months that followed, we knew we wanted Billy's legacy to be defined not by how he died, but by how he lived. Billy had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. We wanted to carry that same spirit forward by creating Respect the Road—a motorcycle awareness event dedicated to encouraging safer roads while giving back.
Choosing SickKids as our charitable partner was an easy decision. Billy believed in helping others whenever he could, and supporting children and families facing some of life's greatest challenges felt like a meaningful way to honour the person he was. Through our annual event, raffle table, merchandise, vendor support, and the generosity of our community, we are proud to raise funds that help SickKids and hope for families when they need it most.
Every donation made through Respect the Road is more than a contribution—it is a way to turn tragedy into hope. It honours Billy's memory, helps create brighter futures for children, and ensure that his legacy continues to make a difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for helping us continue Billy's legacy. Together, we are raising awareness, giving back, and proving that one life can continue to make a difference long after it is gone.
