The Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund
Alyssa Rae was the first child of Bruce and Mary Johnson, who describe her as a beautiful baby with a sweet, soulful gaze. Diagnosed with omphalocele and in spite of many moments filled with hope for a longer life, Alyssa passed away after 20 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at SickKids. To see Alyssa’s story and photos please click here.
To honour Alyssa, the Johnsons set up a special fund in 2013 where 100% of your donation benefits sick and injured children. The Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund supports high-priority needs at SickKids in the crucial areas of medical research, education, and patient care.
To help raise funds, Bruce and his daughter Holly completed three motorcycle journeys (called Motorcycle For Miracles) between 2013-2018. These journeys took them to Costa Rica, across Canada from coast to coast, and to the "Ends of the Earth" from the shoreline of the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories to the southern tip of the Americas (Ushuaia, Argentina). Then in 2022, Bruce did a solo ride up through Labrador. For information about past and future Motorcycle for Miracles fundraising rides, please visit www.MotorcycleforMiracles.com
The Johnsons continue to set the bar higher and will never stop advocating for children’s health. To join them in support of SickKids Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network, consider a gift today.
