I'm Fundraising in Support of SickKids!
"My name is Vera and I'm 8 years old. I am fundraising for Sick Kids because they have helped me lots. When I was 4 years old, I had a very bad accident and hurt my leg. Markham hospital saw me and said they didn't have a doctor that could help an injury as serious as mine so they sent me to Sick Kids in an ambulance with my Mom.
I stayed at Sick Kids for about a week, while the doctors decided the best way to help me. They had to choose surgery with pins and wires or a body cast and what was going to be the best for me.
I met lots of kind people like a bunch of orthopedic surgeons including Dr. Camp, orthopedic techs, my nurses on the 5th floor, and my favourite physiotherapist Heather. There were also some workers who came and helped my Mom and I do some really scary things. I earned some Bravery Beads that I got to bring home too.
I had a very long, one year recovery after I got home and I missed about 4 months of school. My family was VERY worried that my life after the accident would never be the same. But now I am back at school, doing gym and I am even playing in my third year of field-lacrosse!
Thanks to Sick Kids I can walk again and even run again and I'm stronger than ever"
In my first two Lemonade Stand fundraisers, I raised $2,657. ($715 the first year and $1942 last year) thanks to so many generous people.
Please help me have another successful year so that I can give back to the hospital that gave so much to me.
