Today feels especially full-circle

On my birthday today - December 31st- as I turn 38, I’m honored to officially hard launch the public page for The Maria-Jose Fund at SickKids. 

SickKids has been part of my life story for as long as I can remember. This fund represents gratitude, resilience, hope, and the countless moments that shaped who I am today. What began as a deeply personal commitment is now something I can openly share with all of you, my community, my support system, and the people who have walked beside me through every chapter. 

This moment carries even deeper meaning as just a few days ago, on December 26th, my beautiful grandmother passed away. She was my greatest champion, a constant source of strength, and someone who never once lost faith—no matter how difficult the journey became. She was endlessly grateful for SickKids and for the care that shaped my life, and she believed deeply in legacy I choose to leave with SickKids.

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for being here and for following along on my lifelong journey with SickKids. As many of you know, I have proudly maintained a standing fund—The Maria-Jose Fund—for several years. I’m incredibly excited to share that the Fund now has its own public page, making it easier than ever for our community to learn more, stay connected, and, if they wish, contribute to the work that continues to support patients and families like mine.

Your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support mean more to me than I can express. Together, we are helping create brighter futures for children who need it most.
