The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), located in Toronto, was established 151 years ago and is ranked the #1 children’s hospital in the world. This can be attributed to our exceptional care, breakthrough research, innovation, and world renowned staff.
Despite advances in child health, major challenges remain. Many children wait too long for a diagnosis. Many treatments target symptoms rather than root causes. Medical care is mostly one-size-fits-all and reactive, not yet reliably predictive or preventative.
It’s well known that healthier children are the root of a healthy society. Their ability to thrive and reach their potential is vital, not just for them and their families, but for all of us.
Heal the Future, powered by Precision Child Health, is a movement at SickKids that aims to individualize health care for patients from their genetics to their social determinants of health. It uses the latest science, technology, and data to deliver better outcomes for our patients. These are defined as:
