I'm Fundraising in Support of SickKids!
We are fundraising for SickKids to:
Support the SickKids Neurovascular Team and the important work they do for children and their families facing complex neurovascular conditions, across Canada.
We are grateful for the Neurovascular team that helped Makai get to where he is today; Happy and Healthy, meeting all his milestones.
Vein of Galen Malformation (VoGM) is a rare abnormality affecting 1 in 25,000 live births. A vein of Galen malformation happens when an artery connects directly to a vein in a newborn’s brain. There aren’t any capillaries to slow down blood flow. This increases pressure and blood flow, and is life-threatening if untreated. Embolization to stop blood flow to the vein may improve the child’s outlook [Cleveland Clinic].
We want to spread the word so that other families may have the opportunity to receive the same care, and for their babies/ loved ones to have a second chance.
